Little Athletes

Blog Title: Summer Camp
Weekly Feature Theme: Little Athletes
Week: July 31st, 2017 to August 4th, 2017
 What we are learning?Dear Parents,
 We hope you are having a beautiful week. This week children will enjoy being little athletes and discover interesting things about the Olympics games. Our goal is to encourage students to continue developing important values such as friendship, teamwork, solidarity and respect.
 We have scheduled learning activities related to this theme to continue strengthening gross and fine motor skills, language and socio-emotional skills so children can continue learning through experiences. Children will practice sports outdoors and we will read biographies of the most famous athletes.
 Thank you for letting us play such an important role in your child’s life and we hope you have a great weekend.
 Miss Paula & Miss Jenny Materials for Weekly Activities ·         Bring magazines of famous athletes such as Michael Jordan, Nadia Comaneci, Ana Gabriela Guevara, Leonel Messi, etc. if you have one at home.
  Holidays & Upcoming Events ·         Splash Days on Tuesdays in the afternoon and Fridays in the morning.
·         Olympic Games on Friday, August 4th, 2017.
·         Wake Forest Meet and Greet on Friday, August 11th at 6:00 pm.
·         Teacher Work day on Friday August 11th. School will be closed.
·         Teacher Work day on Monday August 14th. School will be closed.
·         First day of School on Tuesday August 15th.
 

 Friendly Reminders

·         Wash your hands and your child’s hands when entering the classroom and help your child to find his/her seat.
·         Read your child’s journal, blogs and Friday Newsletter. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us in case you have any comment or any question about your child’s development or any notes/comments made in your child’s journal.
·         Avoid bringing your child with items that can cause distraction such as toys, necklaces, bracelets, watches, etc. This is needed to help him/her concentrate in the scheduled activities at school.
·         Label all your child’s clothing and items and make sure that your child has extra set of clothing that is appropriate to weather in his/her cubby.
·         Make sure to remove clothing from the cubby and just leave one set of clothing and a blanket for nap time.
·         Make sure to take the blanket home on Fridays for laundry and bring it back on Monday.
·         Make sure to have enough pull-ups or diapers in the cubby for the day, if your child has not been potty-trained yet.
·         If your child is bringing a lunch box, please label it with your child’s name and date and place it in the kitchen. If the lunch box requires to be refrigerated, please put it inside the refrigerator.
·         Do not bring your child to school if the child has a fever of over 101F or any contagious conditions.
·         Apply sunscreen to your child every morning.
·         Make sure to keep in your child’s cubby a pair of glasses and a summer hat.
·         Have your child wear swimsuit, splashers or swim diapers and water shoes for Splash Day. Make sure to send a towel and a tote bag for wet items. Label and pack all these items in the tote bag.
·         Sunscreen and mosquito repellant are important to protect your child because he/she is very susceptible to sunburn/mosquito bites. Yet applying sunscreen and mosquito repellent to your child requires planning. If sunscreen and mosquito repellent must be applied to your child, make sure to fill out an administration or authorization form specifying when sunscreen and mosquito repellant should be applied and be sure to supply the sunscreen and mosquito repellant, label the bottles with your child's name and place them in a tote bag.

Little Creators

What we are learning?

Dear Parents,
 We hope you are having a beautiful week. This week the children will learn everything about being little creators and we will encourage children to be creative.
 We have scheduled learning activities related to this theme to continue strengthening gross and fine motor skills, language and socio-emotional skills so children can continue learning through experiences. Children will participate in creative activities to create objects using recycled material. Children will use paints, paper, carton boxes, etc.

Little Scientists

What we are learning?
Dear Parents,
 We hope you are having a beautiful week. This week the children will learn everything about being little scientists. We will be exploring and discovering the world of science.
 We have scheduled learning activities related to this theme to continue strengthening gross and fine motor skills, language and socio-emotional skills so children can continue learning through experiences. Children will work in 5 small experiments that will allow the children to develop basic skills such as asking questions and answering questions.

Little Readers

Week: July 10th to July 14th, 2017
What we are learning?
Dear Parents,
 
We hope you are having a beautiful week. This week the children will learn everything about being little readers. We will read and listen to wonderful story books about Princesses and Knights. Children will learn about the parts of a book and discuss about their favorite books.
 
We have scheduled learning activities related to this theme to continue strengthening gross and fine motor skills, language and socio-emotional skills so children can continue learning through experiences. Children will enjoy discovering and exploring stories through listening and reading. They will also enjoy some outdoor fun during our Splash days and read our favorite book in the park. They will also cherish some fun times during Pajama Day with their classmates. And they will also enjoy our Princesses and Knights Day on Friday.
