Dear Parents,
We hope you are having a beautiful week. This month our theme is “The Animal Kingdom”. This coming week we will learn everything about pets and insects, in particular about bees, butterflies, spiders and ants. We will also talk about the animals in extinction and learn how to care for them. We will also discover interesting facts about their habitat and their life cycle. We will talk about the production of honey and pollination.
We have scheduled learning activities related to this theme to continue strengthening gross and fine motor skills, language and socio-emotional skills.
Thank you for letting us play such an important role in your child’s life and we hope you have a great weekend.

Holidays & Upcoming Events
· Have your child bring from home a picture of an insect that lives under the soil or of an animal in extinction for Thursday, May 18th.
· Memorial Day on May 29th. Sff! will be closed in observance of the holiday.
Friendly Reminders
· Wash your hands and your child’s hands when entering the classroom and help your child to find his/her seat.
· Read your child’s journal, blogs and Friday Newsletter. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us in case you have any comment or any question about your child’s development or any notes/comments made in your child’s journal.
· Avoid bringing your child with items that can cause distraction such as toys, necklaces, bracelets, watches, etc. This is needed to help him/her concentrate in the scheduled activities at school.
· Label all your child’s clothing and items and make sure that your child has extra set of clothing that is appropriate to weather in his/her cubby.
· Make sure to remove clothing from the cubby and just leave one set of clothing and a blanket for nap time.
· Make sure to take the blanket home on Fridays for laundry and bring it back on Monday.
· Make sure to have enough pull-ups or diapers in the cubby for the day, if your child has not been potty-trained yet.
· If your child is bringing a lunch box, please label it with your child’s name and date and place it in the kitchen refrigerator.
· Label the food that you bring to preschool for your child with your child’s name and the date it was prepared.
· Do not bring your child to school if the child has a fever of over 101F or any contagious conditions.
· Apply sunscreen to your child every morning.
· Make sure to keep in your child’s cubby a pair of glasses and a summer hat.
· Sunscreen and mosquito repellant are important to protect your child because he/she is very susceptible to sunburn/mosquito bites. Yet applying sunscreen and mosquito repellent to your child requires planning. If sunscreen and mosquito repellent must be applied to your child, make sure to fill out an administration or authorization form specifying when sunscreen and mosquito repellant should be applied and be sure to supply the sunscreen and mosquito repellant, label the bottles with your child's name and place them in a Ziploc bag.
