Hola! Around The World

Classroom: Sapitos

Blog Theme: Hola! Around The World

Weekly Theme: Knowing America & Central America

Week: From 02/26/2018 to 03/02/2018

What we are learning?
Dear Parents,

We hope you all have a wonderful week. We will start a new theme called “Hola! Around the world”. Learning about other cultures helps children to be more accepting of diversity, creates curiosity and leads to global awareness. Being curious may specially help children better understand and accept cultural differences that may be a challenge without visiting the country of the cultural difference that they are learning about. This topic will promote respect for cultural diversity and equality.

This week children will learn about North America and Central America and all the countries that this continent is consisted of. Children will explore and discover about their culture, traditions, cuisines, music, etc.

We have scheduled exciting activities related to this theme, so children can continue acquiring knowledge through fun experiences.  Each one of these activities will help to continue strengthening gross and fine motor skills, language and socio-emotional skills.

  • On Monday, children will learn about the United States of America.

  • On Tuesday, children will learn everything about North Carolina. They will discover interesting facts about the Cherokee who an Iroquois language-family Indian tribe. They will also create the Cherokee headband.

  • On Wednesday, children will learn about the countries in Central America. They will explore the flora and fauna and its climate.

  • On Thursday, children will explore cultural traditions such as music and costumes.

  • On Friday, children will review what they have learnt this week and which one they enjoy the most. They will also participate in a craft project and they will create traditional hats of a few countries.

Children will also review the letter B in pre-writing, while in math they will review the number 7, the color “orange” and the geometric shape “the rectangle”.

Thank you for letting us play such an important role in your child’s life and we hope you have a great weekend.

Year-Round Activities

Student of the Week & Travelling Pet

Please make sure to sign up your child for these wonderful activities as these 2 are the children favorites! Both activities allow every child to make and share memories with their classmates.

For the student of the week activity, every week a child is given a set week that he/she are the student of the week. On Monday of their week the student of the week should bring a poster and a book created with family pictures, favorite books, sports/hobbies, animals or anything they are interested in. Also, on their week parents and the student of the week may pick a day to present the poster and the book to the class. The student of the week may also bring favorite toys and books to school so they can share with classmates.

This week our student of the week is Gunther. We are looking forward to learning more from you!

As for the Traveling Pet activity, the classroom pet will spend a whole week with the child and family. During that week, parents and the child will have fun together with a new member of the family while providing love and care to the pet. Our pet loves to read at night, go to the park, visit museums, give hugs and kisses! However, the pet does not like taking a bath as he can get sick. Parents and child will enjoy bonding time and making new memories and the child will be very excited to share all the memories with his/her classmates. In their week parents and the child should bring to school a collage of pictures and a brief description of what they did with the pet. Parent should make sure to place the collage inside the travelling pet bag.

Sign up to both activities today! Sign-up sheets are available at the entrance of the classroom.

Poems

#1

#2
Vamos amiguitos
Vamos a tocar
Muchos instrumentos
Para pa pa pa

Suena el tambor
Suena el violin
Suena la guitarra
Trin trin trin trin

Ahí vienen las maracas
Vamos todos a tocar
En esta linda orquesta
Que es fenomenal.

Riddles

#1
Buenas y sonoras
Cuerdas tengo
Cuando me rascan
A la gente  entretengo.
La guitarra

#2
Se toca con dos palillos
Es un instrumento que suena fuerte
bom bom bom
El tambor
